“Carmen Sylva” Theoretical High school in Eforie Sud Joins an International Project Celebrating the Universal Language of Traditional Motifs

“The Language of Motifs” – Three Countries. Three Friends. One Shared Design.

“Carmen Sylva” Theoretical High school in Eforie Sud is embarking on a new international educational experience through its participation in the eTwinning project “The Language of Motifs,” an initiative bringing together students and teachers from Romania, Türkiye, and Germany, united by their desire to discover and celebrate the cultural heritage of different nations.

Together with partner schools from Amasya, Sakarya, Rize, and Ankara in Türkiye, as well as Realschule plus Bad Ems Nassau in Germany, our students will explore the fascinating world of traditional motifs, discovering the meanings behind the symbols that define each community’s cultural identity. From floral and geometric patterns found in textiles, ceramics, and decorative objects to symbols featured in architecture and folk art, each element tells a story about history, beliefs, values, and traditions.

The project aims to demonstrate that, beyond linguistic and geographical differences, European cultures share numerous common elements and that diversity is a valuable source of learning and inspiration.

Throughout the project, students will create digital materials and cultural identity cards, compare symbols specific to the participating countries, and contribute to the creation of a European map of traditional motifs. The results of their collaboration will be compiled into a digital project book in German and English, showcasing the participants’ creativity, commitment, and spirit of cooperation.

For the students and teachers of “Carmen Sylva,” Theoretical High school this collaboration offers an opportunity to combine foreign language learning with intercultural education, digital skills, and creativity. At the same time, the project encourages communication, teamwork, respect for diversity, and the discovery of shared values that bring European communities closer together.

Participation in “The Language of Motifs” reaffirms our school’s commitment to international educational partnerships and modern learning approaches, through which students become cultural explorers, content creators, and ambassadors of their own identity.

Three countries, three cultures, and countless stories hidden within symbols—all brought together in a project that demonstrates how traditional motifs have a language of their own, capable of uniting generations and communities beyond borders.
