A Week of Friendship, Culture, and Shared Experiences 🇷🇴🇹🇷

Between May 4th and May 9th, 2026, the students and teachers of “Carmen Sylva” Theoretical High School in Eforie had the honor and joy of welcoming the delegation from Edirne Sosyal Bilimler Lisesi from Turkey, within the framework of the project “Romania–Turkey Educational and Cultural Bridge: Dialogue Between Generations.”The success of this educational and cultural exchange was made possible through the valuable contribution and involvement of principal Onoaie Emilian, as well as teachers Apostol Mădălina, Meral Gemil, Manea Eleonora, Munteanu Raluca, and Morogan Mihaela, whose dedication and support strengthened the spirit of cooperation, dialogue, and friendship between the two schools.

This international exchange became much more than a series of activities and visits. It was a meaningful journey of friendship, intercultural dialogue, collaboration, and personal growth for everyone involved.

Monday, May 4th – The Beginning of a Special Experience

The first day of the exchange project was filled with excitement, emotions, and warm smiles as the Turkish guests arrived in Eforie. From the very beginning, the atmosphere reflected openness, enthusiasm, and curiosity.

Students quickly started interacting, sharing stories, and discovering common interests despite coming from different cultural backgrounds. The week ahead promised unforgettable experiences, and everyone was eager to begin this beautiful adventure together.

Tuesday, May 5th – Official Welcome Ceremony and New Friendships

The official opening ceremony took place at “Carmen Sylva” Theoretical High School and represented one of the most emotional moments of the week.

The event included:

  • an artistic and cultural performance,
  • a thematic photo exhibition,
  • the traditional Romanian welcome with bread and salt,
  • and a special greeting offered by primary school students dressed in traditional Romanian folk costumes.

The ceremony highlighted the importance of cultural identity, hospitality, and mutual respect. Romanian and Turkish students proudly presented elements of their traditions, creating a warm and festive atmosphere.

After the official activities, participants joined educational workshops and interactive team activities. Working together in mixed groups helped students communicate naturally, exchange ideas, and build strong connections. Through collaboration and creativity, they discovered that friendship can easily overcome language and cultural barriers.

Wednesday, May 6th – Discovering Bucharest

On Wednesday, the participants explored Romania’s capital city, Bucharest, through a series of cultural visits and shared experiences.

The group visited:

  • the impressive Palace of Parliament,
  • the Village Museum,
  • and the historic Old Town.

Throughout the day, students learned more about Romanian history, architecture, and traditions while also enjoying time together outside the classroom environment. The visit encouraged curiosity and cultural understanding, offering the Turkish guests a deeper perspective on Romanian heritage and identity.

The lively streets, historical buildings, and authentic atmosphere of Bucharest transformed the day into a memorable cultural journey.

Thursday, May 7th – Art, Culture, and Friendship by the Sea

Thursday was dedicated to art, creativity, and intercultural dialogue in Constanța.

One of the most important moments of the day was the artistic performance entitled “From the Danube to the Bosphorus – Peoples That Meet.” During this special event, students from our school performed alongside students from “Regina Maria” Arts High School in Constanța.

The performance beautifully illustrated the power of art to unite cultures and bring people closer together. Music, dance, and artistic expression became a universal language through which Romanian and Turkish students celebrated diversity, friendship, and shared values.

The program also included:

  • cultural and artistic activities,
  • visits to Constanța’s Old Center,
  • a workshop at the Museum of Folk Art,
  • and relaxing moments by the seaside.

The day demonstrated how culture and art can create meaningful connections and unforgettable memories.

Friday, May 8th – School Celebration, Traditions, and Unforgettable Moments

Friday coincided with the celebration of the Days of “Carmen Sylva” Theoretical High School, giving the Turkish guests the opportunity to experience the joyful spirit of our school community.

After official visits and educational meetings attended by the teachers, Romanian and Turkish students participated in a beach picnic and a thematic culinary fair. Traditional dishes, music, games, and outdoor activities transformed the event into a vibrant celebration of friendship and teamwork.

The atmosphere was energetic and full of happiness, with students laughing, dancing, taking photos, and enjoying every moment together. The collaboration between participants made this day one of the most memorable parts of the entire project.

The evening ended in a festive atmosphere filled with music, dancing, and emotions that will remain special memories for everyone involved.

Saturday, May 9th – Goodbye… Until Next Time

The final day of the project arrived too quickly. After a week full of experiences, discoveries, emotions, and shared moments, saying goodbye was not easy.

In only a few days, students and teachers managed to build sincere friendships and create bonds that went beyond cultural and national differences. They exchanged traditions, ideas, perspectives, and unforgettable experiences that will remain in their hearts for a long time.

This project represented much more than educational activities or cultural visits. It became a valuable lesson about openness, cooperation, empathy, and the importance of communication between people from different countries and generations.

We would like to thank all the students, teachers, parents, and partners involved for making this extraordinary experience possible.

The Romanian–Turkish exchange proved once again that education has the power to connect people, inspire understanding, and build bridges beyond borders.

Until we meet again…
Learning Beyond Borders.
