Students often struggle with learning, finding it hard to concentrate and retain information. Effective learning involves using strategies tailored to each person’s needs. The best scientifically proven techniques are:

  1. Active recall is considered one of the best techniques for boosting long-term memory. It involves frequently testing the knowledge you have acquired using flashcards or questions.
  2. The Pomodoro method consists of 25-minute study sessions followed by 5-minute breaks to help students maintain focus and prevent mental fatigue.
  3. Eliminating all sources of distraction that might break your connection with your notes. Phones and TVs are the most well-known distractions that draw your attention away from studying.
  4. Listening to white noise specifically meant for learning. These sounds not only create a sense of calm and relaxation but also help your mind focus on a single task-studying.
  5. Making summaries. Without these outlines, your memory may become overloaded with unimportant information. Write down only the key points from the lesson on a sheet of paper, then study it.
  6. Hightlighting and underlining relevant information or keywords. Use as many colours as possible to hightlight what you know will help you or what you will need.
  7. Using keywords involves associating information with images or familiar words. This method is useful for remembering difficult terms.
  8. Self-explanation refers to explaining the studied information in your own words. It helps clarify misunderstandings.
  9. Practical testing is one of the most effective techniques and involves solving exercises or tests to reinforce the learned material and identify learning gaps.
  10. Spaced repetition means reviewing information at regular intervals. This technique trains long-term memory and helps solidify the material in the student’s mind.

Applying these methods in combination and tailoring them to each individual’s needs makes learning easier and faster. These methods lead to better academic performance and more efficient learning.
